Legendary Entertainment Acquires Rights To Dune

Burbank, CA – November 21, 2016 – Legendary and the Frank Herbert estate have reached an agreement granting the production entity the film and television motion picture rights to the beloved novel DUNE, one of the most revered science fiction novels of all time. The agreement calls for the development and production of possible film and television projects for a global audience. The projects would be produced by Thomas Tull, Mary Parent and Cale Boyter, with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert serving as executive producers.

SOUL CATCHER Film Finds Screenwriter and Director

EXCLUSIVE: Chris Eyre has signed on to direct Soul Catcher with John Sayles attached to write the screenplay. Based on the novel by Dune author Frank Herbert, the psychological thriller centers on a Native American activist who, driven by ancient spirits and injustice towards his people, kidnaps the son of an important U.S. politician with the intent to sacrifice the child as revenge. As the captors and captive attempt to escape from hunters across the Pacific Northwest, they form an unexpected bond which disrupts the planned ritual. Dimitri Villard optioned the book and is producing.

Frank Herbert's SOUL CATCHER novel optioned for film
